Peter Ladka, president of Warwick-based custom software development company, Parse3, was honored to receive AVI’s first annual Employer of the Year Award last week. Each year from now on, the Association for The Visually Impaired (AVI), will honor one employer in the region who has not only opened its doors for a person with disabilities but one who has championed those with disabilities in other ways as well. Other distinguished citizens of both Orange and Rockland counties were honored that night as well for their dedication to AVI and to persons with disabilities.
Three years ago, Peter hired Tom DeLuca, who with the aid of a screen magnifier and some on the job training, has become an integral part of the Parse3 web development team. A year later, Peter founded a non-profit organization, called Beautiful People, which provides adaptive sports and activities to children with any kind of disability who live in Orange County.
The Association for the Visually Impaired, Inc. (AVI) is a non-profit organization, serving blind and severely visually-impaired residents of Rockland and Orange Counties. AVI’s goal is to enable those they serve to function independently and maximize their potential. All proceeds from the dinner will support AVI’s employment placement program.
